皇家隊昨天在主場對紅襪隊進行雙重賽，牛棚消耗量大，旅美老將王建民第2戰亮相，後援1.1局只投12球，連續解決4名打者，過去最熟悉的對手「老爹」歐提茲，也揮出軟弱滾地球出局。
皇家首戰3：2獲勝、第2戰2：5輸球，比起紅襪兩場只用4名投手，一共用了10名投手應戰；王建民第2戰8局上登板時，皇家落後4分，碰到兩出局滿壘危機，他對歐提茲連投兩顆93英里（150公里）伸卡球，再用84英里滑球讓他打出一壘滾地球出局，阻斷紅襪攻勢。
王建民9局上再登板，拉米瑞茲也是對過的打者，蕭爾、路雷吉則是首次交手；建仔球風明快，拿手的伸卡球搭配滑球，讓3人三壘滾地球、揮空三振、二壘滾地球出局，完成1.1局任務，防禦率降到3.07是近4周最低。
歐提茲是王建民在大聯盟9季對決次數最多、恐怕也是最頭痛的打者，從生涯對戰紀錄看來，建仔對他38個打數被揮出16支安打，包括4支二壘打、兩支全壘打，還有8次保送，打擊率4成21，被攻下11分打點。
今年球季結束後，歐提茲將退休，結束大聯盟生涯20年；皇家8月27日作客波士頓芬威球場，對紅襪進行3連戰，王建民還有最後一次對決歐提茲的機會。
建仔昨天展現效率，投12球有9顆好球，伸卡球都在91到93英里之間，搭配83、84英里滑球，有效破壞打者節奏，歐提茲的滾地球、蕭爾被三振都是滑球奏效。
